Ben Blunt
General Manager & Senior Funeral Director
I rejoined the funeral services sector in 2017, having spent approaching 20 years working across a variety of industries in people management and development roles. Being community-minded, it was always my wish to return to doing something to help others, with a real sense of purpose, in a community in which I live, work and care about.
There are few roles as rewarding as being there for people in their darkest hours. Making a difference, sometimes in the smallest of ways, is something that motivates me every day however challenging the work can be at times. There is simply no other profession I would rather be a part of, working with the very best of humankind.
Part of my role also includes building awareness of the work that colleagues do within the funeral service and educating people on the importance of having conversations about end of life. I am particularly proud of the relationships I have developed with our close partners in our local communities – doctors, nurses, carers, palliative care professionals, clergy and the like – who we interact with on a daily basis through our work to raise awareness of funeral service and help answer the many and varied questions people have about death, dying and bereavement.
However, my role as General Manager within CPJ Field is principally focused on the overall leadership, development and support of our teams of funeral directors, embalmers, funeral service team members and funeral arrangers and administrators to give the very best care and service to our client families, right across the family business, to be the best we can be in the communities that we serve.
Beyond my work, which is a lifestyle, not a job, I also have a love of all things outdoors: cycling, walking, adventure and spending time developing my sailing abilities with my growing children where I can be at one with nature and gaze in wonder at the world around me; making the most of everyday.

My outside interests include the Church, music, theatre and trying to do some carving. Would you believe I was FHM’s double-page spread as a funeral director in 2008! One day I hope to complete my PhD!

Funeral Arranger and Administrator, Bletchley
From Monday to Friday, I'm a Funeral Arranger and Administrator at Heritage & Sons in Bletchley and at the weekends I’m 'Loopy Linz', a children’s party entertainer. I truly believe I have the two BEST jobs in the world; both are truly rewarding and a privilege.
For the funerals I arrange, I am entrusted with the care of a family's loved one and ensuring that they are given the best possible send-off that they could hope for. During this tremendously sad and difficult time, I also recognise that the families I help see me as a support unit. Here at Bletchley, we always tell our clients that our phones are on, and they can come to the funeral home whenever they like, we always have plenty of tea, coffee, and biscuits - a listening ear is always provided.
Arranging a funeral from start to finish and being asked by the family to attend the funeral as they take comfort in seeing a friendly and familiar face, to me, is complete job satisfaction. I absolutely love being a Funeral Arranger, CPJ Field is a lovely company to work for. My role as a Funeral Arranger and Administrator has helped me to understand the importance of family values even more especially through the Pandemic.
At weekends, I then get to create a fond childhood memory for the children I meet when I do their parties. I feel extremely honoured to have my job, and long may it continue!

Funeral Director, Aylesbury Central & Aylesbury Gatehouse
I was born and raised in Aylesbury and still live in this lovely county town of Buckinghamshire. I am proud to have worked in the funeral industry for most of my working life. My uncle Bill introduced me to the industry and the rest is history. As I’ve been in the funeral industry for 35+ years, I make sure I look out for my colleague’s welfare especially our newer colleagues.
In my early career I worked as a bus driver alongside the funeral industry, and I really enjoyed my time on the buses. I progressed to a chauffeur/bearer and at that time it was just driving hearses and limousines, then I was slowly introduced to doing callouts.
I have learned how to make and line coffins; vehicle maintenance, supported local charities and hospices, and I was always taught to look after every family member as if they were my own. This has always been my passion to make sure I always deliver work to the very highest standards at such a difficult time.
My current job role is a funeral director at CPJ Field, in which I oversee the day-to-day running of the business. When I walk down my local high street, or around Aylesbury town, people stop me as I have conducted their loved one’s funeral in the past so I always take time to chat to people.
My outside interests are golf, music (especially vinyl) and spending time with my family.

I am originally from Chinnor in Oxfordshire, and lived there all my life, until the last 9 years when I relocated to Aylesbury, which I love.
Over the years, I have had several jobs including running a family pub, working in a doctor’s surgery and working as a carer in the community.
I have been in the funeral profession for 29 years. I am married to a funeral director and immediately knew it was something I was very much interested in, and as they say the rest is history.
I have just joined Heritage & Sons and am excited to be able to use my transferable skills. I have always been customer-facing and a people person, and in this career it is essential. I am very empathetic, organised, and practical, always there to serve our bereaved families and assist our Funeral Directors and staff.
My favourite part of this role is meeting families and putting them at ease and helping and guiding them through such a very sad and difficult time. Also, there is a vast array of professionals that we work alongside in this profession from Doctors, Morticians, Coroners, Police, Solicitors, the Town Council, Florists, Printers, special transport companies, Newspapers, Coffin manufacturers, Crematorium staff, Grave diggers, Clergy, Churches, Musicians, Celebrants, Stonemasons etc; the list is endless, so it is never boring.
Outside of work my interests are my home, family, travelling (especially cruises), chilling out with my dog, reading, 80’s music, watching Netflix, eating out, especially Italian and letting my hair down with a glass of prosecco.

I have lived locally for the past 20 years. I joined Heritage & Sons in March 2020 when needing a change of career following 35 years as a nurse in the NHS. In this role, I use the skills that I learnt there such as good communication, care of families, and efficient organisation.
I gain enormous pleasure from hearing about people’s lives and their stories and helping to make a difficult time a little easier for them.
In my spare time I am a keen dancer and go Ceroc (modern jive) dancing several times a week. When at home I like to read, do crafts and chill out with my cat.

I was brought up in a well-established family funeral business, and my father was a Funeral Director. Over the years, I worked in our family business, fitting out coffins, going to removals and helping my father in the mortuary, dressing the deceased. I also did work experience at Amersham crematorium and with other funeral directors too, such as Coop and Laurels as a Funeral Arranger. I have spent time doing other jobs such as domiciliary care and shop work, but I always wanted to come back to work in the funeral business. I am highly passionate about looking after bereaved families and guiding them in their time of need. I live in Chinnor and have two daughters, Mila and Amaya. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, and I do enjoy the occasional night out, with a glass of pinot grigio.

My current role is Funeral Home Manager. I have been with CPJ for 10 years. I was previously an army-trained nurse, then latterly worked in the NHS. I love my job as I enjoy meeting so many different people. I feel my greatest strength is my age and my life experience. I wanted to continue caring after nursing. My colleagues would describe me as friendly and helpful. My outside interests are craft activities especially quilting, reading, walking, and my family. When I retire, I’d love to tour around the coast in a motor home. I love to put the music on and bring my sewing machine out.

For most of my career, I have worked within the church and the funeral industry, including a period working at a Funeral Directors in the Nottinghamshire area. We relocated to this area post-pandemic. I love that every day is a different day and getting to meet and help the bereaved families who walk into our funeral home brings the greatest sense of fulfilment. I like to make a family feel at ease and am often told I have made their experience of arranging a funeral that little bit easier. My outside interests are Irish Dance which I have done for 30 years. I play the guitar and Irish whistle and flute. I have 3 children and a grandchild so they are my main priorities outside of work. I also enjoy looking after our Alpacas on our farm!

I have been working for CPJ Field now for over 2 years my current role is that of Deputy Funeral Service Manager, supporting the Funeral Service Manager, with the daily running of the whole Funeral delivery operation. I also still do the role of FSTM if not required in the office, which is a wide and varied role encompassing many different aspects, where no two days are ever the same.
I am also involved in the initial training of all our new FSTMs, supporting them in their first weeks working for the company, and showing them the ropes. The funeral industry is one that for many years I had ambitions of getting into, and I can honestly say that I have never looked back. My strengths, I feel, are that I am compassionate about my work and always strive to do the best I possibly can for our clients and their loved ones in our care. I can work alone or as part of a team and under pressure. Before joining CPJ I worked for South Central Ambulance service for 22 years, serving the public, this involved being part of a 2-person crew and alone on the paramedic response car. I did this for the first 19 years then moved to the control room, taking the 999 calls for a while then onto the training side of the company for my last couple of years. Outside of work my main interest is horse riding, I have my own horse and enjoy riding out in the countryside alongside my daughter. I also love getting stuck into a good book and spending time with my family.

At CPJ Field, I act as pallbearer and chauffeur. My priority is to uphold exceptional levels of cleanliness, with thorough maintenance throughout the ceremonial vehicle fleet. I also carefully remove the deceased people from houses, nursing homes and mortuaries. Working within the funeral service, I find that no one day is the same and each day brings its own challenges and rewards. One of my biggest strengths is that I treat others how I want to be treated myself. Both my wife and I relocated to the area and both work in the funeral sector. My background is I was a Roman Catholic priest in Nottinghamshire. My other interests are gardening, watching sports, bike riding, going to church, looking after alpacas and being with my family.
