We currently have a position for a Funeral Arranger and Administrator to join our welcoming team at Haine & Son in Battle. In this role, you will be responsible for arranging and planning funeral services, guiding families through the process with care and understanding. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys taking initiative, has a natural ability to empathise with others, and can meet clients' needs with dedication and compassion.


The successful candidate should live within a 20 minute drive of Battle.

Job Description

  • Working with and providing support to the Funeral Director and Principal Funeral Director to provide an excellent service for customers. Assist with the full process of arranging a funeral end to end.
  • Deliver the best experience for customers, whilst always retaining an understanding and caring attitude to the needs of the bereaved. Use your empathetic and calm nature to always lessen the burden from clients, whilst being flexible and confidential in your role
  • Manage all matters financial in relation to the funeral, including taking responsibility for the collection of debts
  • Help and work alongside colleagues, demonstrating and living the standard of performance required by the Company and working to resolve any deficiencies in the team, using the coaching support of your collaboration with the General Manager, Principal Funeral Director (PFDs) or Funeral Director.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Guiding and advising families through the experience of organising a funeral, including meeting customers at locations other than the funeral home, and supporting customers with other funeral related services such as accompanying the family of the person who has died to our Visiting Room for example
  • Carrying out general office duties such as answering the telephone, taking, and recording first calls, photocopying, filing, and updating the eFD records whilst ensuring the funeral home is clean, tidy and welcoming at all times
  • Maintaining funeral home petty cash records and preparing weekly and monthly reconciliations for submission to Rampion House
  • Promoting the business within the local community and encouraging colleagues to do likewise
  • Being a champion for the CPJ Field way of arranging funerals and giving best customer service for which full training will be given
  • Providing holiday and sickness cover for colleagues based at other funeral homes. The role requires you to participate in the 24-hour call-out system in accordance with the local rota arrangements.
