Repatriation Driver/Administrator - Uckfield

Homeland International is a global repatriation service and is part of CPJ Field & Company Ltd, the UK's oldest Funeral Directors. We currently have a position for a Repatriation Driver/Administrator based in our Hub in our Uckfield location. We require a very special person to join our dedicated and friendly team in this highly rewarding role.

There are no normal hours of work but you are required to work a minimum of 39 hours per week Monday to Friday, which will be linked closely to the needs of the customer and business. The actual times of work may vary according to the needs of the business. Some days will require early starts; some days will require late finishes, so flexibility to working hours within the week is essential. The role is unique and each day is different with a variety of responsibilities, there is also occasional weekend work required which will fall under an overtime arrangement.

The role would be to provide logistical support for Homeland International repatriation cases within the United Kingdom. Responsibilities may include:

  • Removals from hospitals and mortuaries
  • Transfers between mortuaries or funerals homes in the UK (internal & External)
  • Collections or deliveries to/from UK airports and funeral directors (internal & external)
  • Paperwork collection from coroners, hospitals and families
  • Embassy visits and liaison to obtain permits and other documents
  • Accepting coffin deliveries and making up coffins
  • En-coffining deceased people before repatriation
  • Preparation of coffins for international transport
  • Collection and/or delivery of ashes from airports, funeral directors or crematoriums
  • Occasionally support funeral home teams and other areas of the business for overflow support

Plus other duties consistent with the grade as directed.

Previous relevant experience is preferred, but not essential, ideally you will :

  • Be hard working, reliable and honest, committed to maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Be a team player.
  • Have experience of dealing sympathetically with clients.
  • Be of smart appearance with a full driving licence.
  • Possess the emotional strength and resilience required to work with the deceased in a variety of circumstances whilst maintaining a calm, mature and compassionate disposition for their families and loved one.
  • Be physically fit. The team will be required to move the deceased from their place of death in a dignified way to our private ambulances, and from those ambulances to the mortuary. Manual handling equipment and training is provided.
