Our Never Alone programme is designed to provide support for loneliness and other emotional and practical needs plus promote general wellbeing. We have recommendations to local groups who may be able to help you. Finding the right one that meets your needs or interests can be very fulfilling and truly boost your mood.

If you have a local group you would like to add to the listing below, please submit your details via the Google form here.

Social

Friendly, welcoming social groups can be relaxed and informal and offer the chance to chat and build new friendships.

We recommend local social groups and clubs for women and men which provide entertainment, conversation and a range of social activities.

Weekenders

We are an informal social group, for those of us, mainly living alone, and without family nearby, who can sometimes find weekends rather difficult. Of course, we don’t have to meet at weekends only; our plans are to be flexible, and this is very much not a conventional group, with a leader.

Storytelling

Storytelling is a talking group in which members can share their own experiences, or a story, around the month's subject (chosen by the group). You can, if you wish, make-up a story, read a poem or article that has caught your eye on the subject.

Arts & Crafts

Would you like to get stuck in with an arts project or learn a new craft?

There is so much choice when it comes to arts clubs from painting to pottery making. We can help you find the best group for you.

Painting & Drawing

Our Painting and Drawing group is one of our longest running groups. The group bring their own paints, drawing materials and paper. Everyone is at different levels. It is a very friendly group and everyone is welcome. First week is free to try it.

Crafts Group

This is a general crafts group and members are encouraged to bring their own ideas for a variety of crafts to be introduced to the group.

Walking

Walking is a popular choice both for relaxation and fitness. If you would like to get outside a little more, it can quickly become an enjoyable activity, and there are many groups in your area who would love you to join them for beautiful country walks.

Health Walks

We offer a range of walks to allow for different standards of walkers and progression as fitness improves. Anyone is welcome, there are no age limits. No formal membership is required, all you need to do is simply turn up to the walk. If this is your first time walking you will need to complete a health walk registration form.

Ramblers

Our regular group walks are a great way to experience the outdoors and explore new places safely and in good company. You’ll get a warm welcome from our experienced walk leaders and like-minded walkers.

Walking for Wellbeing

Walking for Wellbeing is a local Community Interest Company which supports young people in schools who are struggling to improve their physical and emotional wellbeing, through walking and talking in nature.

Pound Hill Pounders

Pound Hill Pounders is a Crawley running club established in 2021 to help people of all running abilities to get out there, smash their personal goals, and have a great time doing it.

Books

If you are interested in meeting fellow bookworms, there are reading groups in most towns for friendly discussions and thought-provoking debates. We can help pinpoint the perfect book group for you in your area.

Book Group

We borrow books from the library, some members use their kindles. One member leads a discussion. The members help with the choice of books which I borrow from the library. We conclude the meetings with tea and biscuits.

Book Club

A monthly club to chat about all things literary.

Hobbies

Having a wide choice of groups to pick up an old hobby or start a new one can be a wonderful way to meet new people with a similar interest to you.

We recommend local groups and clubs ranging from chess, bridge, poker, bingo, knitting, to bowls.

Family History

This is a group where people can cast an eye over each other’s findings and help each other. People would need to bring their own laptops and tablets.

Tennis/Pickleball

Music & Theatre

Would you like to join an amateur dramatics group or a choir?

Exploring music can be good for the soul. You can join music appreciation classes or join the church choir. Dancing is also a wonderful way to meet new people and have fun.

Ukulele Group

We play and sing along to a mixture of songs. Our repertoire ranges from early 20th century music hall through American spirituals and protest songs, folk, 40s, 50s and 60s rock and pop and are always open to suggestions for different songs. A knowledge of written music is not essential.

Singing for Fun

We sing songs from our Lyric book, of 135+, to a member playing a Yamaha Keyboard, sometimes with YouTube on screen, sometimes to a playlist on Laptop, and we also invite guest musicians.
