Our Never Alone programme is designed to provide support for loneliness and other emotional and practical needs plus promote general wellbeing. We have recommendations to local groups who may be able to help you. Finding the right one that meets your needs or interests can be very fulfilling and truly boost your mood.

If you have a local group you would like to add to the listing below, please submit your details via the Google form here.

Social

Friendly, welcoming social groups can be relaxed and informal and offer the chance to chat and build new friendships.

We recommend local social groups and clubs for women and men which provide entertainment, conversation and a range of social activities.

Memory Moments Café

Join us for tea, coffee, cake, and fun with music, games, dance, quizzes, and more. The Memory Moments Café is now run in Horam by Mindful Oak Sussex.

Open Games Sessions

We are holding Open Games Sessions at Heathfield Library. A selection of games will be available to play, from Scrabble to Pass the Pigs! All ages are welcome. No need to book just drop-in and play.

Monthly Munch

Every third Friday from 12pm to 1.30pm at St Richard's Hall, lunch is informal and free, donations if wished. Come along for lunch and a chat.

Arts & Crafts

Would you like to get stuck in with an arts project or learn a new craft?

There is so much choice when it comes to arts clubs from painting to pottery making. We can help you find the best group for you.

Art and Craft

The Art and Craft Group meet in St Richard's Hall on second, fourth and (when there is one) fifth Wednesday afternoons from 1.30pm. Members bring along their artwork and work on it in a convivial atmosphere, sharing expertise and discussing their work.

Walking

Walking is a popular choice both for relaxation and fitness. If you would like to get outside a little more, it can quickly become an enjoyable activity, and there are many groups in your area who would love you to join them for beautiful country walks.

Heathfield and District Ramblers

We are a friendly, small group of walkers. We have a varied programme of walks which mainly take place on a Saturday throughout the year. Most of our walks are all day walks, usually circular and between 5 and 8 miles.

Books

If you are interested in meeting fellow bookworms, there are reading groups in most towns for friendly discussions and thought-provoking debates. We can help pinpoint the perfect book group for you in your area.

Book Club

Do you enjoy reading? Why not come along to the St Richard's Book Club. The format is to bring a book you have enjoyed reading and offer it to the group. Anyone who would like to join us would be very welcome.

Reading Friends

The Reading Friends group meet weekly at Heathfield Library to talk about reading and anything else that interests them. You don't have to read anything before the session and everyone is welcome so come along, meet new people and share stories together.

Hobbies

Having a wide choice of groups to pick up an old hobby or start a new one can be a wonderful way to meet new people with a similar interest to you.

We recommend local groups and clubs ranging from chess, bridge, poker, bingo, knitting, to bowls.

Chess Club

Join our chess tutor, Tom, on the first Saturday of every month for a friendly game! Meet new people, develop your strategies, or learn to play. All abilities are welcome. Free to access, just drop in.

Music & Theatre

Would you like to join an amateur dramatics group or a choir?

Exploring music can be good for the soul. You can join music appreciation classes or join the church choir. Dancing is also a wonderful way to meet new people and have fun.

Heathfield Choral Society

We are a friendly and welcoming non-auditioned community choir. We rehearse every Monday evening (from September to June) in Heathfield, and give at least two concerts a year.
