Our Never Alone programme is designed to provide support for loneliness and other emotional and practical needs plus promote general wellbeing. We have recommendations to local groups who may be able to help you. Finding the right one that meets your needs or interests can be very fulfilling and truly boost your mood.

Social

Friendly, welcoming social groups can be relaxed and informal and offer the chance to chat and build new friendships.

We recommend local social groups and clubs for women and men which provide entertainment, conversation and a range of social activities.

Knit & Natter

Come and relax with Pauline and friends as they share their skills – knitting, crochet, cross-stitch or nattering. The group meets between 10am and 12pm during term time on Friday mornings. We have patterns, knitting needles, crochet hooks, wool, aida and silks available to get you started.

Connect

If you are 60+ we would love you to join us at Connect@ChristChurch. We are a lively group who meet on Thursday mornings during term time from 10.30am -11:45am. You can be sure that you will be made very welcome. We really enjoy spending time with one another and especially like getting to know new friends who come along.

Arts & Crafts

Would you like to get stuck in with an arts project or learn a new craft?

There is so much choice when it comes to arts clubs from painting to pottery making. We can help you find the best group for you.

Messy Church

Ideal for families. Craft activities, games, stories, singing. We conclude sharing tea together. There is no cost but donations are welcome. Taking place from 4pm to 6pm on the second Sunday in the month.

Art Group

Watercolours, gouache, oils, pen and pencil, poetry – whatever your thing is – ART provides space and mutual encouragement plus friendship. We welcome anyone who already has an interest, or who would like to learn. We meet during school term times at the rear of The Way Coffee House on a Tuesday from 10am until 12pm.

Walking

Walking is a popular choice both for relaxation and fitness. If you would like to get outside a little more, it can quickly become an enjoyable activity, and there are many groups in your area who would love you to join them for beautiful country walks.

Social Wednesday Dog Walks

Would you like to meet new people, get a little fitter or socialise your dog/puppy whilst taking in the wonderful views on the Downs? If so come along and join other dog walkers on these special, Wednesday walks from 10am to 11am. Free - no booking is needed.

The Bogtrotters

Call it walking, hiking or rambling this is what the Bogtrotters do. Our programme consists of local full and half day walks, midweek meanders, a varied social programme and trips away. We provide activities for all levels of walking ability, and we aim to provide regular walking and social activities in a friendly, supportive group.

Books

If you are interested in meeting fellow bookworms, there are reading groups in most towns for friendly discussions and thought-provoking debates. We can help pinpoint the perfect book group for you in your area.

Book Club

Book Club is for anyone who loves to read and wants to widen their literary horizons. Meetings are informal and relaxed as we open up free discussion centering on the chosen book. Book Club takes place on the second Wednesday evening of every month at 7.45pm.

Hobbies

Having a wide choice of groups to pick up an old hobby or start a new one can be a wonderful way to meet new people with a similar interest to you.

We recommend local groups and clubs ranging from chess, bridge, poker, bingo, knitting, to bowls.

Game On

Game On is for anyone who likes playing board games and meet with friends old and new while enjoying a selection of drinks and snacks from The Way Coffee House. A selection of games are provided and you are welcome to bring your own.

Game On takes place on the first Wednesday evening of every month at 7.30pm.

Patchwork & Quilting

Looking for a relaxing hobby? Join our large and friendly group of patchworkers. Tea, coffee & biscuits are provided for all the sessions. There is no charge for attending, bring your own project or purchase a patchwork kit.

Music & Theatre

Would you like to join an amateur dramatics group or a choir?

Exploring music can be good for the soul. You can join music appreciation classes or join the church choir. Dancing is also a wonderful way to meet new people and have fun.

Dunstable Priory Volunteer Adult Choir

No previous singing experience is necessary and our singers come from many and varied musical backgrounds. Some of our adult volunteers are members of the Priory congregation, but by no means all, and that is absolutely not a requirement.
