In memory of

Jill Carolyn Currie

Jill was born in St. Andrews in May 1965 to Mike and Glenna Wheeldon, the second of two daughters. A brother would soon follow the year after completing the family. Her childhood was a happy one attending South Parks Primary and Glenrothes High School. On leaving school she went into accountancy at Beckman Electronics in Glenrothes. She was always active, attending ballet classes, her first passion. She was doing this up until the time she moved south for work and love.
Jill and I met in August 1980 and from the minute I met her I fell in love with her. She was the most wonderful, beautiful person I knew.
After University I moved south to Aylesbury for work and Jill followed with me. We lived in a rented flat on London Road in Aston Clinton. Jill found work in the accountancy department of Fist Fast a local family run packaging firm in town. During this period we also bought our first home, a new build on the Coppice estate in Aylesbury. She left Fist Fast to join Biffa Waste to further herself and also started studying for professional accountancy qualifications. During this period she also began her fitness career. A friend persuaded her to give teaching a try rather than just attending classes. She doubted at first that she could do this, thinking she was too shy to stand up in front of classes. It was evident from the outset that she was a natural. In the early days of this she was teaching step aerobics and legs, bums and tums classes in such places as Reflexions and Racquets to name a few.
We married in February 1992, one of the proudest days of my life. Our first daughter Jillian was born in December 1993 and within a month we moved to a new home in Weston Turville. At this point Jill decided that she wanted to concentrate on being a mother and carry on with the fitness. Therefore her corporate accountancy career came to a close.
It prove to be a wonderful move as our son Innes was born in August 1996 followed by our second daughter Heather in 2001. At this time Jill found her niche in the fitness industry. Always looking for new ideas and ways of doing things she put aerobics behind her to teach Pilates at which she excelled.
She would teach Pilates from the Aston Clinton Guide Hall whilst raising the family. She quickly built a network of clients and frequently had a waiting list for this. Pilates and her clients became a passion and her professionalism was immense as she always strove to have new exciting things for her clients to do in every class keeping it interesting and enjoyable. She loved teaching her clients, many of whom also became good friends. Somatics was to follow on her continuous quest for innovative techniques.
She would latterly join a running group and adult ballet classes, she loved to keep fit and enjoy the company of others.
She loved walking with family and friends and holidaying with the family. The children including her nieces and nephews would flock to her on walks, always bringing up the rear which brought her the name “Mother Goose”
Her other love was her Mazda MX5. She could not believe the day that she finally got one once the kids had all grown and became independent. She loved every day driving it especially with the roof down enjoying the wind blowing her hair.
She was immensely proud of her children, all becoming successful and finding their own way. She was looking forward to more travel following the pandemic and spending time with friends.
Unfortunately she was diagnosed with bowel cancer in July 2020 and after initial optimism we found that she had a strain which could not be cured. She met this with immense strength and never once felt sorry for herself. Even if we all thought it was so unfair that someone so fit and healthy could be struck with this, she only ever felt sorry for her family for what she would be putting us through.
This was Jill, the most lovely and selfless person anyone could ever meet. Everyone she touched fell in love with her. She cared for everyone she met and loved family, friends and clients.
She will be terribly missed by all but will always be with us.
Whenever we see a robin we will know she is there and looking out for us
