This is the house in rural Ireland where Rita was born and raised. I have clear memories of her, Claire and Ita, all similar ages, well protected from the elements in three prams in the backyard.

This is also the house to which Rita and Dermot returned almost every year to catch up with the large extended family. The entire family would be waiting for them every year, anticipating the stories and yarns that they would bring. Always comical. We had great times and we’ll miss them.

There will be a candle lighting in the window of the house during Rita's mass on the 18th.

She is at rest now, joining her father Jack, her mother Phyllis and her grandparents Mary and Martin in heavenly peace.

Anyone who knew Rita would know that she would not want her friends to be sorrowful or to pity her. She would only want us to take care of each other and to remember her sparkling eyes, good humour and kindness.

We offer our deepest sympathies to Dermot, Caroline, Des and their families.

Rest in peace dear friend.

Pauric and Mary

Dear Caroline, Dad & Family,

I am so sorry for Mum’s demise. Losing a mother is probably the most harrowing experience you’ll ever go through this side of heaven. I know this too well.

May God hug you with His unique peace & comfort during this difficult time. May He whisper words of eternal hope.

With love & deepest sympathy,
Ada

Sincere condolences to Dermot, Caroline and Dessie and your families on Rita's passing. I was so very sorry to hear Rita had died, hers will be a great loss. I remember her and Dermot coming home, in Mary and Pauric's or Granny & Grandad's in Woodbrook and Rita always had a smile and was really kind to us as kids. She was so full of life and there was always lots of laughter and yarns and fun when they were home as I recall. Thinking of you all at this time and remembering her with great fondness.

God truely blessed me having a mum like her
It’s a weird lonely place without you mum but I know you couldn’t have fought any harder to stay
You are the strongest bravest lady I know ,
I will do my very best to reflect this until I also am called home
Stay close , fly high
Peace perfect peace
You may not be here for the rest of our lives but you had us for the rest of yours
