In memory of
Somattie Rahman (Leila)
Somattie Raham, known to family and friends as 'Leila' sadly passed away on 23rd February 2021. Leila arrived in the UK when she was just 16 years old having grown up in British Guyana with her brothers and sisters. Leila came to the UK to study to become a nurse and she was very successful, she went on to become a Night Sister and Staff Nurse working in both the NHS and later on in Horley Care Home as Nurse in Charge.
Leila was a beautiful person inside and out and I met her and her son Fazal when she was 38, it was a chance meeting but we both knew that we had found our 'Mr/Miss Right'. Unfortunately Fazal became very ill and sadly in his early 30s he preceded his mother, passing away in 2003. This was when Leila finally retired from nursing; throughout our 36 years together Leila enjoyed traveling around the English countryside and found great solace in her garden.
I was always proud to be beside her, loving and sharing our life together, we had 36 very happy years despite Fazal's troubles and the subsequent sadness that brought.
